Nose reshaping – subtle change, big impact!

Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is a cosmetic procedure to change the size or shape of the nose to achieve more balance and symmetry of the facial features and improve appearance. The nose is the central part of the human face; therefore, facial expression largely depends on its shape.

F.A.Q.

The nose, as the focal point of the face, plays a major role in defining our overall look and even influences facial expressions. A small, upturned nose often conveys a youthful and feminine impression, whereas a prominent or hooked nose can give a more distinctive or exotic appearance. Conversely, a crooked nose may give a harsher or stronger look. Rhinoplasty, or cosmetic nose surgery, allows for reshaping the nose to achieve a harmonious and balanced appearance, while also correcting congenital or injury-related imperfections. Beyond aesthetic improvements, this procedure can also enhance breathing comfort, bringing back the simple pleasure of easy airflow.

Not every expectation is realistic when it comes to nasal surgery, so it’s important for patients to have an open, informed conversation with a plastic surgeon. A perfect nose doesn’t exist — the goal is a nose that suits your unique facial features and proportions. Some Common Reasons for Considering Rhinoplasty Include: Irregular or Asymmetrical Noses: Surgery can adjust the size or shape of the nose, including uneven nostrils or a prominent bridge bump. Injuries: If the nose has been damaged due to trauma and its shape or function has changed, surgery can help restore both form and comfort. Breathing Issues: If structural issues, such as a deviated septum, are causing difficulty breathing, a septoplasty can be performed to improve airflow. Unbalanced Appearance: Individuals with naturally large, wide, or bulbous noses may opt for surgery to achieve a more harmonious look.

Nose tip surgery – performed when correction is needed specifically in the nasal tip area. During this procedure, the tip can be refined, narrowed, shortened, or reshaped to achieve better facial harmony. Septoplasty – a functional procedure aimed at improving breathing by correcting a deviated nasal septum (cartilage). This surgery focuses solely on internal structures and does not alter the external appearance of the nose. Rhinoseptoplasty – a combined procedure that addresses both functional and aesthetic concerns. It corrects the deviated nasal septum to improve breathing while simultaneously reshaping the nose to enhance its overall appearance.

Consult a Specialist: The first and most important step is scheduling a consultation with a plastic surgeon or ENT specialist. During this visit, you’ll review your medical history, discuss expectations, and undergo any necessary evaluations to ensure you’re a good candidate for the procedure. Lifestyle Adjustments: To reduce surgical risks and promote healing, it’s recommended to avoid alcohol and tobacco for several weeks before and after the procedure. Helpful Tips Before Surgery: If you wear glasses, consider switching to contact lenses temporarily, as glasses shouldn’t be worn for about three months after surgery due to the risk of nasal bone shifting. Also, pack clothing that doesn’t need to be pulled over your head to make dressing easier after the operation.

Rhinoplasty is typically performed by a team that includes both a plastic surgeon (for cosmetic aspects) and an ENT specialist (for functional issues such as septum correction). The surgery is done under general anesthesia and usually takes between 1 to 3 hours, depending on the complexity. Techniques vary but often involve reshaping cartilage, straightening the nasal bridge, and correcting internal structures to ensure both aesthetic and functional improvement.
